Tis Hazari firing: Delhi court remands three accused-lawyers to police custody
Three lawyers accused of being involved in the brawl and shootout at Tis Hazari District Court were remanded to police custody for 4 days by a Delhi court [State v Sachin Sangwan & Ors].
Metropolitan Magistrate Chatinder Singh passed the order on Thursday against advocates Aman Singh, Ravi Gupta and Sachin Sangwan who were arrested in relation to the incident which happened on July 5, Wednesday.
"Four days days police custody is granted. It is directed to investigating agency that no accused be subjected to any torture during police custody. Accused persons namely Sachin Sangwan, Aman Singh and Ravi Gupta are handed over to IO/SI Vinod Nain. Medical examination of the accused persons be done as per rules. All the guidelines of Hon'ble Apex Court be complied with," the Court ordered.
The matter will be heard again on July 10.
Earlier, the Bar Council of Delhi (BCD) had suspended the license of advocate Manish Sharma, who is also the senior vice-president of the Delhi Bar Association for his alleged involvement in the incident.
As per the local police, two groups of lawyers including office bearers of the bar association allegedly hurled verbal abuses and fired gunshots in the air after an argument. The video of the incident had gone viral on social media.
The BCD has taken suo motu cognisance of the incident.
